Crash at intersection kills 1 in Delaware

On Behalf of | Mar 28, 2022 | Car Accidents

Intersections continue to be a hotspot for collisions, even with traffic lights and signs in place to help control the flow of traffic. Drivers who fail to yield right of way at an intersection run the risk of creating a hazardous situation that could place others nearby in harm’s way. A recent two-car accident that occurred at an intersection in Delaware has claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman and left the other driver facing numerous charges.

Intersection crash

According to crash reports, the driver of a southbound truck had initially stopped at a stop sign before proceeding to cross into the intersection. The truck reportedly pulled into the path and crashed into an eastbound vehicle, causing this vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a nearby pole.

Although emergency responders rushed the driver of the second vehicle to a medical facility for care, reports indicate that she passed away soon after arrival. Authorities say that the driver of the truck did not remain at the scene of the crash, and they advised that he was located nearby and was taken into custody. He is facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including driving while impaired and vehicular homicide.

Surviving family members

A fatal car accident involving an impaired driver could leave surviving family members mourning over an untimely loss. Those who suffer a loss under similar scenarios might be left with questions about all their available legal avenues and the next steps to take to seek restitution in civil court. Following such a loss, a person in Delaware could consider speaking with an experienced attorney for guidance on what to expect from the process and assistance in preparing to seek the compensation entitled through a wrongful death claim.
