Car accidents are a leading cause of death and injury in Delaware

On Behalf of | Aug 21, 2019 | Car Accidents

Most Delaware residents are very aware that roadways across the state are constantly bombarded with traffic. Also, many of these roads were built decades ago and were not designed to handle such high volumes of traffic. When these factors are taken into account, its no wonder that serious and fatal car accidents are on the rise. Traffic related accidents are one of the leading causes of death and injury across the state.

A recent two-vehicle crash in Selbyville killed one woman and injured several other people. The accident occurred during the evening hours at the intersection of Roxanna Road and Gum Road. According to reports, the violent collision happened when the driver of a sedan pulled out of the intersection and into the path of an SUV traveling west on Roxanna Road.

Authorities said the driver of the sedan suffered very serious injuries, and she later died at a hospital, despite wearing a seat belt in the sedan. The driver of the SUV was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment, reports said. Reportedly, three other passengers in the SUV suffered injuries in the crash that were not considered life-threatening.

With so much traffic on the road today, accidents can happen in a split second. Car accidents are stressful events that no person wants to experience. When a crash is caused by a negligent driver, the experience becomes even more stressful and traumatic. Those in Delaware who have suffered injury or loss due to negligence could benefit by seeking the services of a legal representative. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to victims and families to help with financial losses that may have occurred as the result of an accident.
