Car accidents: Another life lost on a Delaware roadway

On Behalf of | Mar 13, 2019 | Car Accidents

Delaware is a small, densely populated state. Roadways are always crowded and frequently congested, especially in cities such as Dover and Wilmington. Unfortunately, many roads in Delaware were designed decades ago during a time when populations and traffic volumes were lower. Many roadways were not built to handle the high traffic volumes that are the norm these days. These are just some of the many factors that have contributed to high numbers of car accidents in recent years.

A recent crash in Dover tragically took the life of a motorist. The accident happened at night on South Dupont Highway. According to reports, a northbound SUV moved into the turning lane at a traffic light as it attempted to make a left turn across the roadway. Reportedly, the driver of the SUV pulled into the path of an oncoming car.

Reports said the ensuing collision caused considerable damage to both vehicles and seriously injured the driver of the car. He was rushed to a local hospital where, unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries a few days later, authorities said. The driver of the SUV was not injured. Delaware State Police say an investigation is ongoing.

With so many vehicles sharing roadways across the state, its almost a certainty that most drivers will be involved in an accident at some point. Those in Delaware who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones due to negligence in car accidents could benefit from consulting an experienced attorney. Victims and families may be entitled to compensation through a successfully litigated civil lawsuit.
