Surgical errors: Lawsuit filed after alleged negligence

On Behalf of | Jan 12, 2019 | Surgical Errors

Without a doubt, any surgical procedure can be risky. However, skillful surgeons and providers can mitigate some of this risk by following safety procedures and treating patients with an acceptable level of care. Delaware citizens undergo surgical procedures to repair or fix an injury or problem, but what can be done when surgical errors only make things worse? Victims and families may have the option to take legal action.

A man in another state has filed a lawsuit over allegations that a podiatrist was negligent during a surgical procedure on his foot. The lawsuit says the man came under the care of the podiatrist after it was determined he needed surgery on his right foot. According to claims, the defendant used poor technique during the procedure and failed to provide adequate care after it was discovered there was poor healing after the surgery.

As a result of the alleged negligence, the man claims he suffered extreme pain, motion loss and permanent injuries. Allegedly, he also had to undergo another surgery in an attempt to repair damage from the initial procedure. The plaintiff is seeking punitive and compensatory damages as well as all other relief deemed fair.

During any medical procedure or exam, patients place their trust and lives in the hands of capable medical professionals. When physicians, surgeons and other providers fail to provide adequate and acceptable care to patients, severe injuries can occur, including death. Delaware residents who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones due to surgical errors could benefit by consulting a legal representative. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to help with any financial losses.
