Delaware is home to some of the most highly-trained and skilled surgeons in the country, but no amount of training or education can totally prevent surgical errors from happening.

A recent lawsuit filed against a medical facility in another state alleges that errors during surgery resulted in the death of a man. Allegedly, the man underwent a complex surgical procedure at a facility that was not authorized or equipped to do so. According to the lawsuit, the man needed a cervical spine fusion operation. The lawsuit claimed that, although the man requested the procedure to be done at a hospital, providers at the facility convinced him to have the surgery there by telling him his insurance would not cover the surgery at a hospital.

It was alleged that, during the surgery, a medical assistant caused the man’s blood pressure reading to drop by pressing on a pressure cuff. Although modern technological advancements have made surgery safer than ever before, there is always risk involved with any medical procedure. Negligence during surgery can have disastrous and lifelong ramifications. Victims and families in Delaware who have suffered due to surgical errors could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney and filing a claim.
