Car accidents with motorcycles can be deadly

On Behalf of | Oct 31, 2018 | Car Accidents

Motorcycles can be a fun and economical form of transportation. However, those who travel by motorcycle face unique dangers as roadways across Delaware are often crowded and congested. Being visible to other drivers can be a concern for motorcyclists, since motorcycles are usually more difficult to see than most other vehicles. Also, those who travel by motorcycle are completely exposed, so car accidents involving motorcycles are more likely to result in serious injury or death.

Recently, a man was killed in Lewes in an accident involving a moped. The crash occurred during the evening hours on John J. Williams Highway. According to reports, a Jeep Wrangler was stopped in the left turn lane near a shopping center as the driver of a moped approached.. Reportedly, the Jeep driver failed to see the moped and made a left turn into the path of the moped, causing a collision.

Authorities said the driver of the moped was critically injured and rushed to a local hospital. Tragically, the 28-year-old man later died from his injuries, according to reports. Delaware State Police said the moped driver was not wearing a helmet.

Motorcycles can be a fun and enjoyable way to travel, but navigating crowded Delaware streets on a motorcycle can definitely be a risky endeavour. Delaware drivers should always remain alert and be on the lookout for motorcycles. Car accidents with motorcycles can have devastating consequences. Those in Delaware who have suffered injury or loss due to negligence in an accident could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney. Damages from a successful claim could help with monetary losses and alleviate some of the stress that typically comes with this experience.
