Car accidents: Child killed in tragic crash

On Behalf of | Sep 15, 2018 | Car Accidents

Its no secret that roadways across the state of Delaware are dangerous. These days, car accidents are happening more frequently due to the sheer number of vehicles sharing roadways. Most accidents are minor fender benders and nothing more than inconveniences. However, a greater number of accidents are proving to be serious or fatal. Recently, a 6-year-old girl lost her life in a tragic accident that also injured several others.

The accident happened in Millsboro on Millsboro Highway at Lowes Crossing Road. According to police reports, an SUV was headed east on Lowes Crossing Road and came to the intersection with Millsboro Highway. Reports say the SUV ran the stop sign at the intersection and pulled into the path of a van that was traveling north on Millsboro Highway.

Police said the van collided with the right side of the SUV, which caused the van to spin off the roadway and into a Dodge truck. The driver and passenger of the van suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment, authorities said. Tragically, the young girl who was a passenger in the SUV was badly hurt and rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to authorities.

Despite stringent traffic laws, Delaware motorists these days are constantly forced to contend with distracted, impaired or reckless drivers. One of the few guarantees in life is that accidents will happen. When negligence causes car accidents, victims and their families can pursue legal action. A successful claim could result in a substantial monetary award to help victims and families recoup any financial losses that may have occurred as a result of an accident.
