Del. 1 highway sees multiple recent fatal car accidents

On Behalf of | Jul 9, 2018 | Car Accidents

It’s no secret that certain locations seem to be hotbeds for car accidents. A recent fatal accident on Del. 1 made headlines after a father and his four daughters were killed. This is just one of multiple fatal car accidents on the Delaware highway, all of which included vehicles entering oncoming traffic after crossing the median. Here are just a few of the recent incidents

In May 2016, a five-car crash north of Dover led to the death of a 62-year-old woman and the injury of three others. The woman lost control of her car and crashed into a Jeep. She then continued spinning and hit another three vehicles along with a horse trailer. This is an example of how one car issue can lead to a great deal of destruction when traveling at fast speeds.

October 2017 also saw two fatal accidents on Del. 1, one of which involved two cyclists. The driver in this case suffered an acute medical event, blacking out and losing control of his vehicle. His SUV veered across the median and crashed into the cyclists, as well as hitting a utility pole and a Jeep that was parked.

There have been two fatal accidents in 2018 on this Delaware highway, including this most recent one involving the family of six with one survivor. In April 2018, a 56-year-old man was killed, and the person who hit him was charged with vehicular manslaughter. Those who have suffered injuries or wrongful death as a result of car accidents in Delaware should contact a lawyer in the state to understand their options for compensation.
