Surgical errors can happen even in routine procedures

On Behalf of | Apr 23, 2020 | Surgical Errors

Thanks to modern technology and stringent safety regulations, surgical procedures in Delaware are much safer these days. Every day, hundreds of successful surgeries are performed throughout the state. Unfortunately, surgical errors can happen no matter how safe a procedure is deemed.

Hip replacement surgery is one of the more common types of surgeries for older adults. During this type of procedure, a surgeon removes damaged parts of the hip joint and replaces them with artificial parts that are usually made of ceramic, metal and hard plastic. The artificial joint is known as a prosthesis and helps improve the hip function and reduce pain.

However, a man in another state says negligence during his hip surgery left him permanently injured. The man said he underwent a total hip replacement procedure. Allegedly, the man suffered significant pain following the surgery and had to undergo an additional surgery in an attempt to correct his complications. However, the man claims that he is now permanently disabled. He filed a lawsuit against his surgeon over claims of negligence and seeks monetary damages and all just relief.

It is fairly common for minor surgeries to be described as routine. In actuality, no surgery is truly routine, as there is risk involved with every single procedure. Although some of the best surgeons in the world practice in the state of Delaware, there is a chance for mistakes any time humans are involved. Those who have suffered injuries as a result of surgical errors can take legal action by speaking with a knowledgeable attorney. A lawsuit, if successful, could provide compensation to help victims with medical expenses and other financial losses.
