Car accident: Fatal crash remains under investigation

On Behalf of | Mar 18, 2020 | Car Accidents

Everyone knows roadways across the state of Delaware are becoming increasingly dangerous. No person gets behind the wheel with the intent of getting into an accident. Unfortunately, a lot of car accidents are completely unpredictable and happen without warning. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash that happened near Clayton.

The accident occurred during the afternoon hours along Longridge Road. Police reports said a pickup truck was traveling northbound approaching a sedan traveling in the opposite direction. According to reports, the driver of the pickup truck failed to see the oncoming sedan and made a left turn into the southbound lanes and into the path of the sedan.

The ensuing collision caused injuries to the drivers of both vehicles. Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck was rushed to a local hospital where he tragically died from his injuries. The driver of the sedan was also sent to the hospital with injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening. Reportedly, the roadway was closed for about an hour while the crash was being cleared. Police say the crash remains under investigation.

As roadways across the state of Delaware become more crowded, losing focus behind the wheel for just a split second is enough to cause a serious accident. Families who have suffered loss due to negligence in car accidents have options available to help them through this difficult experience. By consulting an experienced and knowledgeable attorney, victims and families could obtain much-needed guidance during this time of stress and uncertainty.
