To prevent car accidents, stay focused behind the wheel

Driving these days can be incredibly risky and is a privilege that many Delaware residents take for granted. Far too often, drivers let things like phones and electronic devices distract them when they should be putting all their attention and focus on the road. With so many vehicles sharing roadways across the state, staying attentive behind the wheel has never been more important. Losing focus for just a split second is long enough to cause car accidents.

A recent crash near Lincoln resulted in two drivers suffering serious injuries. The accident happened during the overnight hours. According to police reports, the driver of a southbound minivan crossed over the centerline of a highway and began traveling in the northbound lanes.

Reports said the minivan violently collided head-on with a northbound sedan. The drivers of both vehicles were very seriously injured and rushed to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. Reportedly, the northbound lanes of the highway were closed for almost three hours following the crash. Delaware State Police said they are still investigating the accident.

It’s no secret that roadways across the state of Delaware are becoming more and more dangerous every year. To prevent car accidents, drivers should avoid distractions and always stay focused behind the wheel. Those in Delaware who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one due to negligence in an accident may want to consider discussions with a legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in vital compensation to help with medical expenses and other documented monetary losses.
