Surgical errors directly affect the lives of patients

On Behalf of | Nov 29, 2018 | Surgical Errors

Literally hundreds of thousands of surgical procedures are performed every day across the United States. Thanks to skilled surgeons, advanced technology and stringent regulations, the vast majority of surgeries in America are successful and allow patients to have healthier, pain-free lives. However, with any medical procedure, there is always risk involved. Surgical errors happen more than most Delaware residents realize. Mistakes made during surgeries are responsible for thousands of deaths and injuries every year.

A woman in another state claims that negligence during her eye surgery led to further complications. According to the lawsuit, the woman underwent cataract surgery on her left eye. However, the woman claims her eye remained dilated weeks after her surgery and caused her problems.

Apparently, she sought other opinions and ultimately had to endure more surgical procedures on her eye to correct mistakes made during her initial surgery. The woman claims that, due to the negligent surgery, her pupil in her left eye does not constrict properly and her eye is swollen, red and irritated on a daily basis. The plaintiff seeks to hold the defendants responsible over claims of negligence during her cataract surgery. She seeks damages for her alleged pain and suffering, as well as all just relief.

Any errors or negligence during surgery will directly affect the patient and often cause complications that the patient will have to deal with for the rest of his or her life. Those in Delaware who have had their lives negatively affected by surgical errors may be able to take legal action. By filing a lawsuit, victims could receive much-needed compensation to replace lost wages and other financial losses.
