Fatal car accidents are on the rise across Delaware

On Behalf of | Oct 8, 2018 | Car Accidents

Roadways across the state of Delaware are overcrowded and constantly congested. Navigating these crowded roads may be the most dangerous daily task in the lives of most Delaware citizens. Although updated traffic laws and increased safety measures have made traveling somewhat safer, car accidents are still happening at an alarming rate. Recently, an accident in Milford claimed the life of a woman and injured several others.

The chain-reaction crash happened along Route 1 just after 1 p.m. According to reports, a northbound Pontiac rear-ended an SUV traveling the same direction. The impact caused the driver of the SUV to lose control, travel through the median and into oncoming traffic, reports said. The SUV the collided nearly head-on with a southbound GMC Yukon.

Police said this caused the Yukon to shift into the right lane and slam into a Mercury Marquis. Reportedly, the Marquis left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Unfortunately, authorities said a female passenger in the Marquis was killed in the crash. The driver and passenger in the SUV and the driver and passenger in the Yukon were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. Police reportedly arrested the driver of the Pontiac after the discovery of an active warrant.

These days, just going for a short drive can potentially result in a deadly crash. Those in Delaware who have suffered loss or injuries as a result of negligence in car accidents could benefit from discussions with an experienced attorney. Much-needed financial relief could come from a successfully litigated lawsuit.
