It is common knowledge that driving while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. While intoxicated, motor skills are greatly impaired and the simplest tasks become extremely difficult. A Delaware man faces several charges after he caused an accident that injured several people, including two children.
The accident occurred during the early evening hours at the intersection of Townsend Road and Mt. Joy Road. According to reports, the man was driving a pickup truck and was stopped at a stop sign. Police reports said the man failed to remain stopped and pulled directly into the path of a Toyota SUV.
Authorities said the driver of the SUV and two children, ages 18 months and 6 years, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. A passenger in the pickup truck was also injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. After an investigation, police determined that the pickup truck driver was impaired and he was arrested. The man was charged with DUI and first and second degree vehicular assault, among other charges.
