Delaware’s Injury And Medical Malpractice Leaders

Thousands are affected by surgical errors every year

Thousands of people undergo surgical procedures every single day in Delaware and across the United States. Many of these procedures are classified as routine, but in reality, no surgery is actually routine. Surgical errors can occur in any type of procedure, no matter how minor. These days, gallbladder removal surgeries can be done laparoscopically and are considered some of the least invasive procedures. However, as one man in another state allegedly found out, mistakes during a seemingly minor procedure can have life-altering effects.

The man claims that a surgeon's errors during his gallbladder removal caused him life-threatening complications and he filed a lawsuit. According to the lawsuit, the man underwent a cholecystectomy to remove his gallbladder. The lawsuit alleges that, during the procedure, the surgeon caused a cystic duct leak in error.

After the initial cholecystectomy, the lawsuit said the plaintiff underwent an exploratory surgery five days later. Allegedly, the surgeon failed to diagnose and treat the duct leak, which caused the man to suffer sepsis and other complications which threatened his life. The plaintiff seeks monetary damages and all just relief.

No surgery is completely safe. Errors during medical procedures result in thousands of injuries and deaths every year in the United States. Victims and families in Delaware who have suffered injuries or loss due to surgical errors may want to consider seeking the services of a knowledgeable and experienced attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in much-needed monetary relief for families who are suffering due to this traumatic and debilitating experience.
