Delaware’s Injury And Medical Malpractice Leaders

Although helpful, precautions won't totally prevent car accidents

Motorists in Delaware are constantly at risk when traveling these days. To mitigate some of this risk, drivers should always practice safe driving habits, such as removing distractions, paying attention to surroundings and staying focused and alert. Unfortunately, no amount of preparation can totally prevent car accidents from happening.

Recently, an accident near Red Mill Pond ended with one car engulfed in flames and two people suffering injuries. The crash happened around noon on Route 1 near the Red Mill Center. Reports from Delaware State Police said the driver of a sedan was attempting to make a left turn onto southbound Route 1.

According to reports, the driver of the sedan pulled into the path of a northbound car, which struck the sedan in the front end. Reportedly, the sedan caught fire but the driver was able to exit. Authorities said the sedan driver was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. A 13-year-old passenger in the other car was also injured and taken to a hospital, reports said. The crashed closed the northbound lanes of Route 1 for about an hour, according to police.

Defensive driving habits and other precautions can reduce the likelihood of an accident occurring but, unfortunately, completely preventing car accidents is impossible. When negligence in car accidents causes injury or death, victims and families may want to considering discussing the situation with an experienced legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in compensation that families could use to recover any monetary losses that may have occurred due to an automobile accident.
