Car accidents: Officers injured in accident with tractor-trailer

Today, the United States economy is growing exponentially. This prosperous economic growth means there is a greater need to transport goods and merchandise throughout the country. For many companies, the most efficient and cost-effective way to do this is by using tractor-trailers. Traveling on an interstate at high speeds beside these massive trucks can definitely be intimidating for motorists in smaller passengers vehicles. Tragically, car accidents involving tractor-trailers injure thousands every year in Delaware and across the country.

Two Delaware State Police troopers were recently injured in an accident involving a tractor-trailer. The crash happened during the overnight hours on Del. 1 at the crest of Roth Bridge. According to reports, the two officers were driving separate cars and had stopped in the right lane to help the driver of a disabled vehicle.

Reports said a tractor-trailer collided with one of the patrol cars and started a chain reaction crash. Reportedly, one officer was in his car and the other officer was outside of his vehicle at the time of the collision. Both officers were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said. The driver of the tractor-trailer and the driver of the disabled vehicle were not injured. Reports said traffic delays lasted hours while authorities investigated the incident.

Due to their massive size, any accident involving a tractor-trailer is more likely to result in injury or death. Delaware residents who have suffered injuries or loss as the result of negligence in car accidents can take action by consulting a legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in financial relief for struggling families.
