Many Delaware residents choose motor vehicles for transportation to travel around the state. When driven responsibly, vehicles can be an efficient and safe way to travel. Unfortunately, when driven recklessly, vehicles can be very dangerous and may result in serious car accidents. Recently, an apparent negligent driver contributed to an accident involving three vehicles.
Although a 52-year-old man driving a Ford Focus initially refused to be pulled over, he did concede to the police's request. When he did pull over, the 35-year-old male passenger in his car ran from the police. He was later detained with the help of a taser gun. While one officer was in pursuit of the running passenger, the driver as well attempted to flee the other officer. He sped off driving down the street after colliding into a parked vehicle as well as the patrol car.
Unfortunately, what stopped the reckless driver was two other cars. According to reports, he apparently ran the red light at an intersection where the collision occurred. All three drivers suffered injuries from the crash. Both the 83-year-old and 46-year-old male victims were taken to the hospital for treatment but have since been released, but reportedly, the careless driver is still being treated in a medical facility. Authorities are still investigating the accident.
Car accidents can be serious and, at times, fatal. Fortunately, all injured persons in this accident are expected to survive. Although the victims escaped tragedy, they will have numerous unexpected accident-related expenses. Medical bills, therapy bills and vehicle repairs can accumulate quickly. Experienced personal injury attorneys in Delaware are experienced at helping victims of negligence navigate their options for possible financial compensation.
