A small-town dentist has been sued after one family has made accusations that he performed unnecessary dental procedures on their son. Delaware residents are suing for malpractice for an incident in 2015 in which they say their son was subjected to an unnecessary surgery. The surgical errors committed by the dentist, they say, will cost the family a small fortune to remedy in the long run.
According to the suit, in 2015 the couple took their minor son to undergo surgery at the dentist's office. The specifics of that surgery were not made clear in this report, but it has been suggested the surgery was wholly unnecessary. During the course of the surgery, the father says a member of the dentist's staff allegedly offered him an alcoholic drink while he waited.
The minor child had long-term damage done to his mouth. In addition to the expenditures shouldered by the family for the procedure performed by the dentist, they say their son will require years of painful and costly dental procedures to repair the damage done. They say he will likely require specialized dental support for the rest of his life.
It is unclear at this time the amount of damages the family is seeking, but Delaware residents likely agree they are entitled to monetary relief if the allegations against the dentist are proven true. Surgical errors can have long-term negative impact on any patient, but especially a child who will have to deal with the fallout of those errors for the rest of his or her life. This is why it is so important to seek out the support of an experienced attorney if an individual believes a surgery may have been improperly performed.
