A man who says he has suffered some two years of pain and suffering is suing his doctor for malpractice. In a lawsuit filed on May 13, the man said that surgical errors in a hip replacement surgery led him to serious pain. Delaware residents understand how much a botched surgery can influence a patient's life moving forward, explaining the need for financial relief in the form of a malpractice claim.
According to the filing, the man went to his doctor to have his hip replaced on Jan. 21, 2014. The man says components of his prosthetic hip were incorrectly installed by the attending physician, who also did not test the implant once the surgery was completed. The suit goes on to detail the expenses the plaintiff incurred for additional surgeries and medical care required as a result of the botched surgery, as well as his personal pain and suffering.
The man seeks a jury trial and asks for an award of damages, including interest and the cost of litigation. A specific dollar value has not yet been placed on the damage claims, as it will be determined by the trial jury if and when financial liability is proved. He has retained counsel local to him, and the case has already been assigned a judge.
Surgical errors of this type can have detrimental long-term effects on patients, as many Delaware residents are already aware. This is why it is so important for individuals who feel their doctors have been negligent in the discharge of their duties to seek experienced legal counsel from a medical malpractice attorney. Pain and suffering should not have to be endured at the cost of a medical professional's mistake.
